The BUILD workshop is where I offer what I consider more traditional design and consulting services specifically in architecture, urban design and urban planning. Services are based on hourly rates or by project, depending on the which approach best suits your needs and the project scope
Architecture
NCARB; Colorado Architect (#305361)
I take a person-centered approach to architecture. In other words, form shall never have a higher priority than the needs of the people who will ultimately utilize a space. I appreciate and respect history such that preservation is always an important consideration. But preservation is not the end all. My approach balances the past with the reality of the world today. While we are enriched by an appreciation and respect for the past, we need not live in it.
Context & Community
I focus on projects that seek to achieve client goals while also making a positive contribution to the community at large. Context matters, and well designed buildings and spaces add to the narrative of a particular place. My ideal clients understand that moderation is not compromise but instead, the key to living well. And they recognize this responsibility by giving something back.
Urban Design & Planning
Truly influential architecture exists in and responds to context. If the impact of architecture is best understood as personal or micro in scale, then urban design and planning is macro and communal. My approach to urban design and planning projects is to apply key principles in such a way as to promote community cohesion and individual well-being.
